How to Prevent Tooth Decay and Get Temperary Relief of a Toothache

Maybe you cannot see your dentist because he/she is booked or on vacation. You might consider going to a different dentist providing that you have money or insurance. You also may consider going to your local clinic. Your local clinics will accept cash, credit cards, and most insurance. You also may consider going to the emergency room. Especially! When you have swelling, or a bad taste in your mouth. That’s another option!

If you don’t have insurance you should go to the emergency room. If nothing else they have to stabilize you. Most doctors will prescribe antibiotics. That will bring down the swelling.

The very best thing for a toothache is a dentist. If a dentist is not a possibility at the time some of these remedies might give you relief.

For a Toothache

These remedies are mostly for a toothache not a cavity but these remedies will give you some relief. If you see a hole in your tooth this means you have a cavity. Scroll down further for a temporary cavity fix.

Toothache treatment you can do right at home involves floss. This is particularly helpful if you've got a toothache as a consequence of just eating food then getting food stuck in between your teeth. If not, then this cure will not work for you. The deal with floss is when your tooth just starts to hurt floss then swish mouth wash or warm salt water in your mouth. This remove food wedged from the tooth so there's no discomfort or irritation. If pain persists check around the house for the suggestion below.

Clove Oil

No matter how severe your toothache is, use clove oil. Clove oil is very strong essential oil, you can find clove oil in any super market. Just get a small square of gauze or some que-tips and soak in some clove oil. Press it against the tooth (if you can't see the cavity, place the gauze where you feel the pain) for about 5-10 minutes and you should start to feel better. Try not to swallow the clove oil. It won't hurt you to swallow a little, but large amounts can be really bad for your stomach. If you have an impacted tooth, you will probably be doing this every few hours until you can get to the dentist- by the time it's impacted, there's not much you can do for the tooth. It will have to be pulled, but the clove oil will help kill the poisons in the tooth area and will actually help the dentist. Sometimes the infection will be too bad to pull, but if you use clove oil on your tooth and gums it will reduce the chances of the infection getting worse. Sometimes the clove oil will stop the infection.

In fact, the paste most dentists use on a "dry socket" is a mixture of mostly clove and clove oils. Clove has antibacterial, sterilizing and healing properties in its natural form.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is natural antibacterial and anti-infection oil. Tastes bad but works very well. You can purchase it at your local health food store and some Wal-Mart's sell it. You can find it in were the vitamins are sold. Apply the tea tree oil the same way as the clove oil.

Temporary Cavity Fix

If you have a filling that has fallen out then take Ibuprofen and go to the dental section at any supermarket Look for a small kit with a tiny pot with a tube of dental filler or dentists filling material, a short cotton swab and a stirring stick comes with the kit! It’s really easy to use and lasts for a few weeks until you can get to a dentist.

Wax

Candle wax works to keep the air out of the cavity but easily falls out while eating and drinking. Gargle with salt water. Light the candle drip wax on paper or on a clean plate. Scrape up the wax while still warm with your finger mash the warm wax into the cavity hole. If the wax falls out at any time before resealing the cavity with the wax gargle with warm salt water to clean and stop bacteria from growing in you tooth.

Green Tea

Green tea helps to prevent cavities because green tea has an abundance of natural fluoride. You can buy green tea in most grocery stores in the tea section. I would recommend buying it in a health food store or a store that sells all organic products. If you like your tea sweet whether it is green tea or not use an herbal sweetener like licorice. Another herbal sweetener is the Paraguayan herb stevia botanical name Stevia rebaudiana this herb Sweetens any herbal drink. Great sweetener!

Bay Leaf

Bay leaf is also used to prevent tooth decay. Some toothpaste that you buy from the super market has bay leaf in the ingredients. Check if your toothpaste has bay leaf or on your next purchase buy toothpaste with bay leaf.

Blood Root

Prevents plaque there for preventing cavities blood root is also great for preventing and curing gum disease.

How to Whiten Teeth with Banana Peel

I drink a lot of coffee and I smoke an I tried the banana peels to whiten my teeth. I noticed a difference the first time I tried this home remedy. I didn't keep it up to see just how white my teeth will get but I can honestly say I did notice a difference in the appearance of my teeth. I bet you if I quit smoking and drinking coffee the banana peel would defiantly whiten my teeth.
